Gara is a very strong tower pusher, if not the best tower pusher in the game. His main draw comes from this fact and if left alone, he can push your entire base while you teamfight.

Strategy[]
The combo to learn is this: Lockbox into W and activate the Ultimate. Pop the Q and maybe 1 tower as well. Once they leave lockbox state, drag the Ultimate SCVs towards the target and watch as they explode.
- Grab Transport (talent) and split push all day. If someone tries to stop you, use the combo and push them away.
- Going mid is usually the best idea since you can push indefinitely and perhaps take the mid tower really quickly.
- Gara scales very hard late game due to the INT scaling and the number of SCVs he can produce.
